Michael D. Lisi has experience in a broad range of complex business litigation, including technology-related litigation, intellectual property disputes, contract and licensing matters, and antitrust litigation. Michael has represented individuals and corporations in numerous actions involving claims of patent and trademark infringement, trade secret misappropriation, fraud, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty and unfair business practices. He has experience at the trial and appellate levels, and practices in both the state and federal courts. Michael has also had experience handling securities and other complex commercial litigation, including the defense of enforcement actions and investigations by the Securities and Exchange Commission and the NASD.

Before joining the firm Krieg, Keller, Sloan, Reilley & Roman LLP, Michael worked for several years in the San Francisco office of Cooley Godward LLP, and also spent one year in the Washington, D.C. office of Wilmer, Cutler & Pickering. In addition, Michael clerked for the Honorable Anthony J. Scirica, Chief Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, during the 1997-98 term.

  • Represented plaintiff machine manufacturer in patent infringement action.

  • Represented international electrical and electronics manufacturer in connection with antitrust actions involving various types of computer memory.

  • Represented well-known designer and manufacturer of high-end luxury goods in several trademark infringement actions alleging violation of the designer's famous marks.

  • Defended a provider of internet advertising and marketing services in an action alleging breach of contract and unfair competition.

  • Defended on appeal an award of summary judgment in favor of a desktop publishing software developer in an action alleging copyright infringement and trade secret misappropriation.

  • Represented defendant insurer in a jury trial concerning coverage for numerous securities actions stemming from insured's restatement of earnings.

  • Obtained dismissal of arbitration enforcement action in favor of Austrian manufacturer of chains and chain products.

  • Obtained summary judgment in favor of insurer in coverage and bad faith action arising from lawsuits alleging unlawful pyramid scheme.

  • Obtained summary judgment in favor of national law firm based in Los Angeles in indemnification action alleging poor choice of legal theories and remedies in real estate litigation resulting in much greater expense and lower recovery to client.

  • Defended a leading provider of memory technology against claims of patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation.

  • Represented plaintiff software manufacturer in commercial dispute alleging breach of contract and anticompetitive conduct related to the acquisition of client's former licensee by major software manufacturer and competitor.

  • Defended a designer and manufacturer of premium eyewear in a patent infringement action.

  • Represented insurer in action to recover insurance proceeds improperly claimed by insured.

  • Obtained summary judgment in favor of manufacturer of audio cables and interconnects in patent infringement action.

  • Obtained summary judgment in favor of insurer in coverage and bad faith action arising from class action lawsuits against manufacturers of a video game console.

  • Represented major pineapple company in $100 million suit involving affirmative claims of anticompetitive conduct and trademark infringement, and defended allegations of patent infringement.

  • Represented video game agency in multi-million dollar dispute over unpaid agency fees and fraud by client in connection with same.

  • Obtained summary judgment in legal malpractice action brought against nationally recognized litigation firm arising out of representation in real estate litigation dispute.

  • Represented one of the country's largest managed care companies in nationwide class action litigation attacking HMO incentives.

  • Defended software developer against shareholder derivative action.

  • Defended major manufacturer of boats and boat engines in state and federal antitrust class actions.
